About Me
I’m a psychotherapeutic counsellor working with trauma, burnout, grief, relationship difficulties, and the impact of sexual abuse, domestic abuse, and early-life experiences.
I also work with people who are struggling with stress, overwhelm, and patterns in their emotional responses that feel difficult to understand or manage.
I am a trauma-informed therapist. My background has involved sustained exposure to high-pressure environments, shaping how I understand and work with stress, trauma, and complex experiences.
This includes supporting emergency service workers, including NHS staff, through periods of ongoing demand and uncertainty. I work with male and female survivors of sexual abuse and domestic abuse, and with those affected by bereavement through homicide. I also specialise in bodily autonomy, including male and female circumcision, and have published research in this area.
My understanding of therapy is grounded in the idea that many ways of coping develop in reaction to what has been experienced. These responses often make sense at the time they form, even if they later feel distressing, confusing, or difficult to manage.
The focus of my work is on how these responses continue to show up in day-to-day life. This can include current pressures, emotional reactions, and the underlying processes that shape them, including when they first began to develop.
Practice
My approach is collaborative, steady, and paced around you.
We start with what is happening for you now, and gradually build an understanding of what may be contributing to how you feel and respond.
There is no pressure to force insight or move faster than feels manageable. The aim is to develop clarity and understanding in a way that feels contained and workable.
Reaching out for support is not always easy. If you are here, it likely means something has already shifted or become difficult to carry alone. We can begin by understanding what is happening and what may be contributing to it.
Professional Contributions
Alongside my clinical work, I have contributed to published work on psychological trauma and bodily autonomy, I also deliver talks on its impact.
My experience spans both clinical and high-pressure operational environments, which informs my understanding of how stress, responsibility, and trauma affect people over time.
